The Trachtenfest
Always on the 2nd weekend in July – in every uneven numbered year – there’s work to be done, we forget our worries and stress for four days. Even the clocks run a little different by us. You will notice this when at the end of the Trachten Festivals the day has 25 hours. Someone just decided one day, that while this event is one of the nicest festivals in the world, this person just wanted to get every second there was out of it – and then some.
Since 86 years the world has come together in our town. This quaint Schlitzer Land, so good-natured and sometimes even seen as being a sleepy nest, welcomes its national and international guests for a couple days of unrestrained celebration. Thousands of people wander the streets letting them be spoiled with sights, sounds and a harmony that infect everyone. This is what the Trachten festival shows us again and again: There are no borders, no communication problems and no differences between the people and their varying cultures and societies – not when it’s about purely enjoying life.
